Provides routine and problem-visit gynecologic care to patients. During the course of provision of care, the NP may order, conduct, and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests and prescribe pharmacologic agents, treatments, and non-pharmacologic therapies. Acts as a resource to address patient questions. Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the clinic setting. Provides routine follow-up evaluations for obstetric patients and coordinates follow-up care with the other practice providers as needed. Completes documentation of the management of these patients.

Reports to: Medical Director for Centers for Women's Health

Minimum Qualifications:

Current Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife by the RI Department of Health

Completion of approved nurse practitioner program and certification by ANCC and/or AANP OR completion of nurse-midwifery program accredited by ACNM or ACME and certification by AMCB or ACNM.

  • Credentialing required for appointment to the Medical Staff of South County Hospital Allied Health Staff
  • Specialized training or experience in gynecology required.
  • Two years of relevant practice experience required.
