Position Summary:
Serve as technical interface between quality managers and quality engineers in machining, assembly and supplier areas, and with customer-facing channels of the business for assigned product lines. Responsibilities include collection and statistical analysis of data related to internal and supplier quality and leading of associated corrective action and improvement opportunities in collaboration with affected stakeholders, such as manufacturing & design engineering, quality, supply chain, and production, as well as marketing and sales.

The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of drawings and governmental specifications/standards (e.g., US Military Specifications and Standards, Technical Data Packages, ASTM specifications). The candidate will understand statistically based problem solving and process improvement (e.g., six-sigma).

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Assist the assembly quality engineers as analytical interface between engineering, manufacturing engineering and quality on design for manufacture and assembly issues and establishing/documenting critical features.
*Work with supplier quality engineers, product line quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and key suppliers to understand, analyze and improve measurement systems and process capability for assigned governmental contracts.
*Takes lead in creating and updating quality assurance inspection instructions and data sheets and assist in measurement activities.
*Take lead role as interface on customer issues emanating from company sales channels (e.g., commercial, law enforcement/military, international and customer support) for assigned contracts. Analyze failures and assist in development of corrective and preventive actions to respond to customer complaints in a timely manner.
*Facilitate and perform acceptance testing documenting all actions per contract specifications.
*Serve as subject matter expert during all customer acceptances.
*Assist Director, Quality Manager and Quality Engineers in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system. Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure New Product Introduction are in accordance with approved data and testing, including appropriate records.
*Creates and assist in maintaining product line specific quality records and submit to customers as required by contract.
*Trains others on how to conduct measurements using basic inspection tools and perform functional/visual inspection of SIG Sauer products.
*Use analytical thinking and work closely with inspectors and engineers for data collection and leads analysis, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, always maintaining appropriate levels of workplace organization and safety.
*Work to identify root cause and provide corrective actions to improve products and processes that will contribute to more manufacturable, higher yield, higher quality, and lower cost products.
*Must effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, suppliers, management, and fellow employees.
*Train (by on-the-job training) Quality Technicians Levels I and II, and others as assigned by management.
*Serve as back-up for product line quality engineers.
*Must be able to travel infrequently and be available to meet the business needs if overtime is required.
*Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
*Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; preferably Minimum 4-year degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.
*Minimum 5 years' experience in one or more quality or inspection disciplines.
*Familiar with drawing/print reading, basic Quality concepts, and mechanical design document interpretation.
*Knowledge of US Government Military Standards and practices (e.g., FARs, DFARs) related to quality planning and first article/conformance inspections.
*Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required, and at least a basic working familiarity with fundamental data analysis techniques. Familiarity with Oracle EBS is also a plus.
*Should have fundamental technical and mechanical aptitude with basic optical, electrical, and mechanical test instruments and techniques, as well as strong aptitude with hand tools and small power tools.
*Should be familiar with Acceptance Quality Limit theory and practical development and application of valid sampling plans.
*Excellent communication, organization and task management skills are required.
*Ability to work in teams.

Working Conditions:
*Occasionally lift 10-30 lbs.
*Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required for specific processes.
