The Quality Assurance Compliance Supervisor directs and coordinates compliance and auditing activities by performing the essential duties and responsibilities listed below, ensuring compliance with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 113 (Thermally Processed Low-Acid Foods Packaged in Hermetically Sealed Containers.) The QA Compliance Supervisor consistently promotes and maintains a safe work environment while striving to ensure quality-focused programs that aid in producing products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

What you'll do:

  • Perform daily review of critical factors to ensure compliance with 21 CFR part 113, written Food Safety plans, and internal run rules.
  • Support deviations. Collect and organize supporting documents.
  • Investigate compliance issues through employee/partner interviews, chart review, and data historian review.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations into compliance deviations.
  • Monitor adherence to and report on compliance Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Develop and provide compliance training to staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders across all functions.
  • Maintain plant sanitation standards and processes to reduce food safety risks.
  • Collect data and compile reports that reflect trends and that identify potential problems.
  • Leverage technology to automate and manage compliance processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to instill a food safety culture in the organization.
  • Ensure partner accountability and provide daily communication of essential information.
  • Must encourage teamwork and compliance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Utilize Process Excellence tools to improve plant performance and complete specific projects as directed.
  • Ensure prompt response and communication with other leaders.
  • Back up Quality Assurance Specialists as needed.
  • Acts as primary Safety Quality Foods (SQF) practitioner in the event the Quality Assurance Manager is absent or when all other SQF Practitioners are absent.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Works directly with Quality Assurance Manager and indirectly with Plant Manager, serving as a back-up for the Quality Assurance Manager as needed.
  • Work safely with chemicals.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety Protocols.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of quality assurance/quality control experience and/or equivalent in a position requiring confidentiality and demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience using oral and written communication skills to propose understandable and implementable solutions and explanations for complex problems.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and work streams.
  • Experience working with and presenting to business leadership on escalations to problem solve.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Certifications:

  • Intermediate knowledge of 21 CFR part 113.
  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification.
  • Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Practitioner certification.
  • Better Process Control School (BPCS) certification.
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification.
