The Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) Supervisor will provide support to both the Savage Handling and Savage Transportation operations. These operations serve our customer—Marathon—by providing highly skilled expertise in Petroleum Coke cutting, Coke handling, tractor-trailer loadout, specialized equipment maintenance, and dry bulk hauling to a variety of end-users. You will partner with Operations leadership at both sites to implement and execute the SH&E plan and meet site-specific SH&E strategy requirements. These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage: Opportunities for growth Work-life balance Annual performance bonus Paid holidays Profit sharing Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, profit sharing, and 401(k) with match Here is what you will be doing Demonstrate the highest commitment to “zero occurrences” by effectively leading the safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) efforts at the operations Work closely with Operations Managers to implement all safety-related portions of Savage's S7 System Develop and deliver procedural and regulatory training; regularly track and report training completion Support execution of the customer's operating requirements Establish a proactive SH&E process towards incident prevention Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements Ensure Team Members follow proper safety rules, procedures, and processes Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory bodies, including OSHA, DOT, and EPA Interface with key customer SH&E and operations contacts and assist operations in implementing and executing customer-driven programs or emphasis areas Steward the Lead Safety Specialist and Safety Specialist programs at the sites Ensure incidents are properly reported to internal and external parties Lead the Savage teams on internal and customer safety audits Spearhead the Root Cause investigation process to completion and ensure sustainable corrective actions are implemented to avoid repeat events Spend significant time in the field with front-line Team Members and observe field activities Track “leading indicators” to address trends Support Operations Managers during incidents by responding as needed What traits and skills will make this leader successful? Broad knowledge and understanding of safety, including OSHA, DOT, and Process Safety Management (PSM) Experience in an industrial setting Ability to analyze situations and data to make sound decisions Training experience preferred Computer skills (MS Office Suite) a “must” Excellent communication skills, written and oral Organizational skills and ability to multi-task Excellent people skills Responds well to high-pressure situations Requirements for a Successful Safety Supervisor Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field is preferred 3+ years' experience working in the petrochemical and/or refining industry and the field of transportation Hold a safety certification recognized by an accredited organization or be able to obtain certification within the first 12 months. Examples include CSP, SMS, OHST, or CET Must possess a current Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card) upon hire Current/valid driver's license Ability to climb ladders or stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and work both indoors and outdoors (often in changing weather conditions) Occasional travel may be required #IND1
