Here is what you will be doing
- Ensure all employees follow proper safety rules and operating procedures
- Conduct daily audits of the overhead bridge crane and DCU
- Issue frequent work orders to ensure the system is properly maintained
- Coordinate communications to third parties involved
- Respond to any unsafe or out of place event or condition immediately
- Complete and file all necessary documentation as required including JHA's, SHAPS, permits, log entries, safety meetings, audit sheets, daily check sheets
- Assist in training of employees
- Conduct and document frequent Safety and toolbox meetings
- Maintain company objectives and expectations in the absence of the Operations Manager
- Work closely with Operations to keep production levels high, systems
Requirements of a successful Operations Supervisor
- In person interviews require the candidate to be clean shaven, no exceptions
- Extensive knowledge of crane, coke unit, and heavy equipment
- Experience in bulk materials, conveyor systems and heavy equipment
- Experience interacting with an hourly, salary and client based workforce
- Proven ability to focus on details, follow work rules and adhere to work schedules
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers
- Experience with OSHA guidelines, policies, and procedures
- High School Diploma required
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
- Excellent organizational skills
- Efficient with standard office software programs (SAP, Word, Excel, Outlook, Managers Plus)
- Must be able to multi-task and set priorities
- Ability to manage confidential issues
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role
- Must have the ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position:
- Work in an environment containing coal dust, hazardous noise, confined space, and in hot or cold environments
- Work at heights , climbing stairs, and climbing ladders
- Walk on uneven ground and up to 3 miles per shift
- Must have ability to wear required PPR
- Must be able to pass a fit test and pulmonary function test for the purposes of wearing a respirator and recertify annually or as needed
- Lift up to 50 pounds frequently
