The Industrial Mechanic at Savage's Baytown Facility will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of equipment used at the facility.
Here is what you will be doing:
- Perform minor/major repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on pickups, mobile equipment, conveyors, tractors and trailers.
- Assists with other facility mechanical repairs as necessary
- Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory
- Learn and partner with the Maintenance Manager to utilize Manager + and SAP as a tool of organization and preventative maintenance record keeping
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures
- Revise maintenance procedures as needed
- Support other areas of the operation, as deemed by the Maintenance Manager, even in areas outside typical diesel mechanic duties
Requirements of a successful Industrial Mechanic:
- Experience needed in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems
- Identify and diagnose repairs by computer-based systems
- Communicate with internal leadership, direct reports, external vendors and other team members
- Welding experience a plus
- Read, write and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
- Prepared to help with anything requiring attention, as directed by the Maintenance Manager
- Knowledge and experience using a CMMS is helpful
- Self-starter capable of working independently, in line with company goals, strategies and policies
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion
Education/Experience:
- NCCER Certifications required
- Prior experience as a mobile equipment mechanic/diesel mechanic, pickups, tractors and trailers required
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for long periods of time
- Work in all types of weather conditions while ensuring OSHA and State regulations are being maintained
- Navigating the facility will include, but is not limited to, exposure to harsh weather conditions, uneven ground, ladders, racks and other high places, ground that can be slick or uneven, and other industrial hazards
