SAIC are seeking a senior Unix and Linux Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC. As a Unix and Linux Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Unix and Linux-based systems and infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our systems, with a particular focus on Oracle Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.

Job Duties

·      Design, deploy, and maintain Unix and Linux-based systems and services, with an emphasis on Oracle Linux and RHEL.

·      Coordinate with the vulnerability management team to plan and remediate vulnerabilities including CISA KEV in a timely fashion.

·      Perform system administration tasks, including installation, configuration, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Unix/Linux systems.

·      Ensure the security and compliance of Unix/Linux systems, including implementing security best practices and conducting regular audits.

·      Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the integration of Unix/Linux systems with other infrastructure components and applications.

·      Provide technical expertise and support to resolve complex issues and incidents related to Unix/Linux systems.

·      Evaluate emerging technologies and trends in the Unix/Linux ecosystem and make recommendations for their adoption.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

·      Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

·      Strong experience in Unix/Linux system administration, with a focus on Oracle Linux and RHEL distributions.

·      Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools for system management and configuration.

·      In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux security principles, best practices, and tools.

·      Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.

·      Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.

·      Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

·      Relevant certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) or OCA (Oracle Certified Associate) are desirable.

·      Government Contract Experience desired.

Clearance: Must be able to attain Public Trust


Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
