The Tomahawk Weapons System Program Office (PMA-280) is responsible for both the life cycle management of the Tomahawk All-Up-Round (AUR) and the Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System (TTWCS) currently in-service aboard Fleet combatant surface ships and Fleet submarines.  PMA-280 also works in cooperation with PMA-281 to manage, coordinate and sustain the Theater Mission Planning Center (TMPC), as well as all other elements of the Tomahawk Weapon System (TWS).  Three segments comprise the TWS system:  the Tomahawk missile, the TTWCS, and the TMPC.  This position directly supports the Tomahawk missile segment.

This Senior Systems Engineer role directly supports the PMA280 Missile Systems APMSE responsible for the full-spectrum, multi-disciplinary technical management of the missile subsystems hardware and software that comprise both the Tomahawk Block IV & Block V missile product lines. The PMA-280 Missile Systems team maintains acquisition, technical and sustainment cognizance for the production of Block V missiles, and also for the Block IV missile recertification program where Block IV missiles are being modernized via the addition of a new NAV/COMMS radio, JMEWS incorporation (which replaces the existing missile warhead with the new increased capability warhead), M-Code (via incorporation of a new GPS receiver), and finally for all Block IV/V missile depot sustainment activities.   Successful engineering support for these programs and efforts encompass the full spectrum of weapons acquisition (i.e., Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD), Test & Evaluation support, Production & Sustainment/In-Service Engineering).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to manage engineering and technical efforts across the Missile Systems portfolio.  This position provides a high level of influence over new and critical capabilities being pursued via PMA-280 programs.  

  • Responsible for the successful planning and execution of multiple engineering efforts supporting the development, integration, verification, training, certification, accreditation, production, deployment, and sustainment of the weapon system products comprising the Missile Systems portfolio, and will be required to interface directly with PMA 280-leadership, prime contractors, and other key users and stakeholders as part of the assigned duties for this position. 

  • Responsible for managing the Missile Systems engineering team and will mentor junior engineers to ensure they grow in their assigned roles in support of the PMA-280 APME/Chief Engineer, and the PMA-280 Program Manager & Principal Deputy Program Manager.

  • Experience with all phases of acquisition (DoD 5000).

  • Experience in software engineering and agile processes.

  • Digital engineering and MBSE.

Qualifications

Education and Skillset Requirements:

  • BS in any Engineering Discipline.
  • 15 years of experience supporting Naval Aviation Programs.
  • Current Secret clearance or higher and ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • DAWIA Level III (Practitioner) in Systems Engineering.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
