SAIC is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer for our team in Sterling Heights MI.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Systems Safety Engineer Job Duties:
The candidate for this position will support the entire SAIC effort in support of systems requirements definition, architecture analysis, design analysis, which includes, but is not limited to:
- Apply industry best practices for vehicle functional safety in accordance with ISO 26262 “Road vehicles — Functional safety” and Mil-Std-882E, “Systems Safety”
- Conduct a range of modeling, simulation, and analysis in areas such as operational mission scenarios, maneuvers, and situational awareness
- Develop and mature analysis system and software tools.
- Provide technical expertise in the modeling and analysis of military vehicle systems and their broader system-of-systems architectures
- Conduct trade studies and comparative performance assessments of system and architecture alternatives to inform customer investment decisions/recommendations
- Apply model-based system engineering (MBSE) to define system functions and develop functional and performance requirements
- Apply model-based system engineering (MBSE) to develop architectural views using DoDAF/MODAF (UPDM) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
- Analyze MBSE models to derive mission threads and use cases to aid in system-level verification planning
- Lead subject matter experts, stakeholders, and customers throughout the process of developing and coordinating system level specifications
- Identify proposed changes to technical baseline documents (i.e., interface documents, specifications documents, architecture products)
- Prepare and present engineering analysis, gaps, and recommendations to senior leadership and/or design reviews
- Prepare system and design review packages
- Develop and implement metrics to measure product quality and development performance
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop the safety analysis and strategy at the system, hardware, and software level.
- Ensure that safety plan activities meet program timing.
- Align safety related topics with suppliers and customers.
- Determine and analyze safety requirements
- Create the Functional and Technical Safety Concepts (FSC and TSC).
- Perform the necessary safety analyses (e.g., FMEA, Hazard Analysis, and FTA).
- Define the required tests for the verification and validation of the safety requirements.
- Create the Safety Cases in accordance with industry best practices
- Prepare contract deliverable reports to include:
* Failure Summary and Analysis Report - Failure Analysis and Corrective Action Report (FACAR)
* Failure Analysis and Corrective Action Report - FRACAS Report
* Safety & Health Hazard Assessment Report - Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
- Prepare risk approaches to determine integrity levels (i.e., Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASILs))
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; four (4) years or more experience.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 7 years' experience in systems safety analysis for ground vehicles.
- Experience working in an Agile team/framework
- Strong technical background in vehicle and robotic mechanics and dynamics
- Experience in DoDAF, SysML and UML modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Proficiency using DOORS or other requirements management tool
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience using Cameo Enterprise Architect, Rational Rhapsody, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or other comparable tools
- Experience with MATLAB, STK, AFSIM, Simulink, Model Center, or other comparable modeling and simulation tools
Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
