Be a part of an exciting, dynamic R&D environment, working on a team providing key insights to senior
agency leaders. SAIC has an opening for an experienced hardware engineer to provide Systems Engineering
& Technical Advisory (SETA) support services to an IC research and development (R&D) customer. The
customer organization applies research to real-world solutions, revolutionizing agency approaches in
engineering, development, integration and test, and operations of national security-related systems based
in space, in the air, and on the ground.
Position responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Review and provide assessment on command and data handling sub-systems (e.g., single board
computers, analog and digital I/O, etc.) and electrical power systems (EPS) (e.g., EPS control, solar
arrays, batteries, etc.) with additional emphasis on radio frequency (RF) payload architecture and
design. - Identify gaps between needs and acquisition offices capabilities to provide inputs to strategic
planning. - Ensure R&D efforts for both space and ground systems are planned and conducted on a sound
engineering basis with proper controls and management of programmatic risks. - Develop documents and briefings to communicate work or study status, brief government and
industry as required. - Provide technical review and assessment of concepts, systems, technologies, designs, architectures,
interfaces, and operation of space and ground systems. - Brief and report technical and programmatic assessments presenting analysis, results, conclusions,
and recommendations. - Frequent interaction with government, SETA, FFRDC, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Poly.
- Bachelor's degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline with at least
9 years related experience. - Relevant experience in systems engineering.
- Demonstrated experience with command and data handling sub-systems.
- Experienced with RF hardware design and microelectronics hardware.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and energetic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work on a cross-functional team.
- Effective interpersonal, briefing, and writing skills.
- Experience facilitating customer-driven meetings or technical forums.
- Demonstrated ability to work with MS Office applications.
- Understanding of core systems engineering and analysis disciplines and processes.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience providing on-site Systems Engineering and Technical Advisor (SETA) support in an
advisory capacity to senior leaders. - Advanced degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline.
- Experience with electrical power systems.
- Experience with design, build, and test of space and ground components.
- Ability to use performance modeling tools to evaluate payload capabilities, to understand
implications of design trades, and validate contractor provided system performance estimates. - Ability to use Model-Based Systems Engineering tool(s) to assess contractor provided model.
- Prior experience working within an IC customer's System Program Office.
- Experience with IC R&D organizations.
- Prior US military and/or IC customer experience.
