Are you ready to harness the vast expanse of the cloud and shape the future of defense technology? SAIC is on the lookout for a visionary Cloud Computer Engineer to be a part of a groundbreaking initiative with the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). In this pivotal role, you'll lead the charge in constructing a state-of-the-art Engineering Network (eNET) prototype. Your expertise will be the cornerstone in revolutionizing how research, development, and engineering activities are conducted within NAVAIR.
This position will require onsite support in California, MD. An Interim Secret clearance at minimum will be required to begin work. Open to relocation for the best candidates!
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Designs, plans, and integrates cloud computing and virtualization systems.
- Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, application & data migration techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Develops and conducts testing of cloud and virtualization systems.
- Maintains technical expertise relevant industry standards and in cloud computing and virtualization technologies such as cloud service provider architecture, design, and configuration; cloud deployment models including public, community, private, and hybrid; cloud service delivery models including infrastructure-, platform-, and software-as-a-service; automation; hypervisors; containers; virtual compute, storage, and networks; virtual infrastructure management; self-provisioning; and scaling.
- Evaluates and reports on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance capabilities of cloud-based and virtualized services.
- Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
- Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
- Cloud automation skills including experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform to create and maintain infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and operations, including pods, services, deployments, and stateful sets.
- Experience in Kubernetes networking, storage, and security configurations.
- Experience with Kubernetes command line interface tools like kubectl and helm.
- Ability to deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
- Familiarity with EKS integration points such as Elastic Load Balancer, Amazon Elastic File System, and Amazon Elastic Block Store.
- Familiarity with DoD and Federal Compliance Frameworks such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), ATO, JSIG, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171.
- An active Secret clearance is required
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Cloud security and architecture skills related to cloud provider security services such as AWS IAM, Azure Active Directory, GCP Security Command Center.
- Identity and Access Management experience related to implementing role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, and least privilege access.
- Experience with designing secure Virtual Private Clouds, implementing AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and Secure Access Models, micro segmentation, network access control, and conditional access policies within cloud environments.
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
