SAIC is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Paint Department) to support the US Navy in the development, production, and sustainment of military aircraft mechanical systems in Indianapolis, IN. This may include time spent on split shift/second shift.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer may be responsible for but not limited to the following: 

  • Design, author, establish, develop, improve, and maintain standard technical processes and procedures for disassembly, modification, upgrade, assembly and testing of complex mechanical assemblies and paint procedures that meet ISO9000 and/or AS9100 Standards. 

  • Plan and manage the scheduling of parts, projects, and paint department procedures to keep workflow moving at an efficient rate while maintaining deadlines. 

  • Supplies, Inventory and Material planning to accommodate department needs, fluctuations, and project demands. 

  • Achieve stringent quality and product output goals while practicing lean manufacturing processes.

  • Perform Engineering Technician work, as required by the project. 

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years' experience; additional four (4) years' experience can be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Clearance: 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Confidential security clearance; New Hire employee will be required to submit background information necessary for security clearance evaluation.

  • US Citizenship required.

Required Skills: 

  • Experience in designing, launching, and managing the output and quality of manufacturing and assembly projects.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

  • Adept at reading and correctly interpreting engineering drawings, engineering specifications, and electrical schematics.

  • Conducting related research to make technical decisions that directly affect processing and quality output.

  • General understanding of the quality requirements of ISO9000 and/or AS9100 and their application to production work.

  • Physical strength and stamina to work in a 5-day, 40 hour/week production environment, moving products, tooling, carts, etc.

  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude with the physical and technical ability to perform Engineering Technician work on projects as required.

  • Familiarity with identifying appropriate PPE and process controls required to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Strong understanding of Configuration Management.
