SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical – Test Engineer to support the Experimentation and Assessment Division in testing and data acquisition for analysis of in ordnance, weapons systems, and related systems for the Divisions Range - Testing Branch for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, IN, on location at the Lake Glendora Test Facility in Sullivan County, Indiana.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Support customers and sponsoring organizations in reviewing, testing, and documenting captured assessment data. Continuously ensuring system assessment, test planning and execution, data reporting, of systems under test and review are accurately completed and documented for the customers' mission success.
The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for a variety of tasks leveraging their expertise in mechanical engineering. Responsibilities include:
Planning and coordinating test activities, providing hands-on program and technical support, and performing logistical and range operations support for both on land and underwater testing.
Conducting research to understand testing requirements, developing test plans, fabricating and setting up tests, capturing high-speed photography and other measurable data, and performing limited design tasks (I.e. Fixtures).
Support customers and sponsoring organizations in designing experiments, supporting test range operations with data collection to support final deliverable reporting.
Additional tasks include maintaining equipment, performing first aid (once trained), attending meetings, and providing detailed recommendations to support various programs.
The role requires the candidate to adhere to established safety protocols and stay current with the necessary skill sets to meet the demands of the position.
The candidate will gain necessary safety certifications in explosive handling and operations
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and zero (0) years or more of related experience.
Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, and an unrelenting desire to learn and improve. Capable in assessing project issues and helping to develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Self-Starter capable of contributing both individually and with others in a collaborative team. With a demonstrated ability to work in a high-paced environment, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and convey technical information effectively to a variety of audiences in oral or written formats.
Strong mechanical aptitude, willingness and capable to support completing hands-on and demanding tasks in varying environmental conditions.
Knowledge of advanced techniques to automate data collection, utilizing software such as MATLAB® or similar tools
Ability to meet physical health, personal responsibility, and safety requirements to obtain and maintain an explosive certification and explosive driver, and material handling equipment licensing.
Must be proficient with computers and have experience with Microsoft suite of software tools (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
Candidate must be a US Citizenship
Interim secret clearance with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
DoD Test and Evaluation requirements and standard operating procedures
Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD system
Project Management and Technical Leadership
Knowledge of Explosives or Ordnance System testing
