0SAIC is seeking a Junior Data Scientist located in Pearl City, HI to support the USINDOPACOM J7 Directorate to assist in the collection, cleaning, processing, and analysis of large datasets to extract meaningful insights, ensuring data integrity and accuracy through validation and cleaning processes.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Support the development and deployment of predictive models and algorithms for trend forecasting, and assist in real-time, actionable decision-making by providing data analysis and insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement data-driven opportunities that enhance operational efficiency and training effectiveness and build and maintain dashboards and visualizations to communicate data insights effectively.
  • Help track contract labor, manage travel requirements, and monitor Official Representation Funds (ORF), while preparing financial documents for contract approvals and generating reports from integrated financial systems like SMARTS.
  • Support the government's review and processing of documents in the Defense Travel System (DTS), ensuring correct line-of-accounting charges, validating attachments and receipts, monitoring Government Travel Card limits and assisting with credit adjustments if needed.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting slides for meetings, such as the Joint Action Meeting (JAM) and weekly staff meetings, help develop and complete military and civilian award packages, and perform other data-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2)+ years of experience additional four years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Basic hands-on experience or internships in data science and/or analytics roles.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques, machine learning, and data science methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

DESIRED SKILLSET:

  • Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) software and systems.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms and big data technologies.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for implementing process improvements.
  • Experience with financial systems, including SMARTS and SABRS, is a plus.
  • Experience in awards packaging, administrative package preparation, and maintaining personnel databases is beneficial.

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

  • Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TSSCI.
  • Must have Current US Citizenship.

Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
