SAIC is recruiting for a Junior Support Engineer for one of our programs supporting the FDA. SAIC supports the FDA and their scientists in Scientific Computing which includes but is not limited to; technical and research aspects (e.g., hardware, software, desktop support, infrastructure, virtualization all in a laboratory environment). Independent, motivated individuals with good oral and written communication skills for documenting process and procedures, and briefing reports are desired. Experience in desktop support is a plus. Position requires either an active FDA Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain prior to start.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Review and reform customer facing ServiceNow forms by modifying fields and content to capture the request by the customer as well as capture the information required by the receiving team(s).
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting the wireless sensor infrastructure used by scientists to monitor units housing scientific material.
  • Assist in the periodical review of approved security exemption lists which include outreach and collection of information for data calls.
  • Perform a periodic review of computers in a non-compliance status and outreach to owners to mitigate.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to customers submitting new technology to the FDA Product Catalog.
  • Working with support and engineering team in functional areas for the implementation of best practices, streamlining of operations, and equipment handling into SOPs.
  • Monthly reconciliation of the Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) list and maintain inventory of system assets.
  • Account for computers in support offices and assisting in the surplus process for hardware.
  • Implement continuous improvement methodology through the use of IT systems or procedure.
  • Additional responsibilities will include: End user documentation, computer moves, deployments, and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 0 years experience or additional experience in lieu of degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust
  • Technologies used: Windows, Mac OS, Microsoft Office, ServiceNow, BeyondTrust Bomgar, Remote Desktop Connection, Citrix, Zscaler, Cisco VPN, SCCM, MDT, Centrify, Active Directory, Access Card Utility, ActiveClient, Symantec, Parallels, VMware, and Java
  • Scientific software troubleshooting
  • Ticketing system or request logging
  • Creating SOP
  • Organizing files and forms

     


Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
