SAIC is seeking a Lead Engineer to support the United States Air Force in bridging intelligence community collection architectures, capabilities, and technologies with DOD operational requirements.  This effort will deliver rapid, innovative, and cost-effective capabilities to meet urgent warfighter need, and will include bringing space capabilities to bear cross all warfighting domains spanning intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, combat applications, battlespace awareness, command and control, multi-level security and mission programs.  This next generation approach shall employ the latest advancements in geolocation and tagging, sensor and data fusion, unconventional / asymmetric warfare, situational awareness, cyberspace and spectrum warfare, large data analytics, data lake, jamming technologies, sensor technologies, geo-registration to deliver a cutting-edge approach.

 

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in large, complex system of systems design, development, and integration projects. The candidate will need to provide engineering leadership in fusing disaggregated intelligence and sensor phenomenology to ensure end-to-end mission closure. The Lead Engineer will lead a team to develop and mature analysis system and software tools and provide technical expertise in the modeling and analysis of AI, HMI, and military systems and their broader system-of-systems architectures.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide testing and evaluation support and perform long-term strategic direction for the development and fielding of software and hardware systems utilizing the application of principles and techniques from computer engineering, data analytics, and software development.
  •      Apply model-based system engineering (MBSE) to define system functions and develop functional and performance requirements and develop architectural views using DoDAF/MODAF (UPDM) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
  •      Analyze MBSE models to derive mission threads and use cases to aid in system-level verification planning. Lead subject matter experts, stakeholders, and customers throughout the process of developing and coordinating system level specifications.
  •      Identify proposed changes to technical baseline documents (i.e., interface documents, specifications documents, architecture products). Prepare and present engineering analysis, gaps, and recommendations to senior leadership and/or design reviews. Prepare system and design review packages. Develop and implement metrics to measure product quality and development performance.
  •      Identify innovative ways to evolve and improve systems and assist in performing technical/mission analyses of operational requirements, assist in developing system concepts, and perform technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs. 
  •      Provide mentorship and technical leadership to a team of systems engineers.
  •      Provide thought leadership and innovative solution design addressing the operational mission.  
  •       Leading and executing design reviews
  •      Conduct trade studies and comparative performance assessments of system and architecture alternatives to inform customer investment decisions/recommendations.
  •      Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation and diagrams/models via MBSE tools.
  •      Develop traceability relationships from Systems Engineering artifacts to Agile Engineering artifacts like Epics, features and user stories.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Education:

  • Bachelors and 18+ years' experience with Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience
  • Possess the knowledge and experience to perform complex software and system engineering
  • Possess knowledge of scripting languages to analyze test artifacts as well as ability to analyze results from data exports.
  •     Ten years of experience managing an engineering team in conceiving, planning, and conducting research and analysis for complex technological problems of considerable scope.
  •     Five years of experience providing support to DoD Service organizations and/or Intelligence Community agencies.
  •     Experience working in an Agile team/framework is required. 

Desired Skills:

  •     Five years of experience providing rapid prototyping or development
  •     Five years of experience in the identification, development, and application of multiple technology sources (Signal Intelligence, Geospatial Intelligence, etc.), and applications and knowledge of multiple engineering technology systems and data flow
  •     Experience in DoDAF, SysML and UML modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  •     Proficiency using DOORS or other requirements management tool.
  •     Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience using Cameo Enterprise Architect, Rational Rhapsody, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or other comparable tools.
  •     Experience with MATLAB, STK, AFSIM, Simulink, Model Center, or other comparable modeling and simulation tools.

Target salary range: $200,001 - $225,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
