SAIC currently has an opening for an Artificial Intelligence Architect to support the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Job Description:

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Architect will assist the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in developing AI policies, strategies and designs to align with DoD and Army policies. The AI Architect will play a critical role in the development and implementation of AI strategies within USACE. The candidate will be responsible for providing expert guidance and insights on a wide range of AI and related topics, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and designing and implementing data ingestion pipelines. 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key advisor on AI to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable AI models and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges and opportunities; translate these into AI-driven solutions.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new AI technologies and methodologies that can improve business processes and outcomes.
  • Ensure seamless integration of AI components into existing infrastructures.
  • Develop standards, frameworks, and best practices for AI implementation.
  • Design, implement, and maintain data ingestion pipelines that efficiently process structured and unstructured data from various sources into a form usable by implemented AI algorithms.
  • Articulate complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Ensure ethical considerations and data privacy and security regulations (DoD, Army, and USACE) are incorporated into AI solutions.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and fourteen (14) years of experience; four (4) years of experience are accepted in lieu of a degree.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of five years of experience working in an AI or related engineering role.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and principles.
  • Experience with AI platforms and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, OpenAI, etc.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for deploying AI models.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Flink.
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases.
  • IAT III certification in cybersecurity (CASP+ CE or CISSP)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across various departments.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Required Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to employment; must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance to maintain employment.

Desired Skills and Certifications:

  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or C++.
  • Industry certifications in AI, machine learning, or cloud services.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch.
  • Expertise in data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Luigi, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
