SAIC is seeking an experienced Advanced Fire Control (AFC) Mission Engineering Lead to support the Space Development Agency (SDA). The Advanced Fire Control (AFC) Mission Engineering Lead will provide technical leadership in the development, integration, and testing of advanced space-based sensing systems. This role is critical to supporting time-critical target detection and tracking capabilities for missile defense missions.
Note: This role can be located in Chantilly, VA; Huntsville, AL; Colorado Springs, CO; or El Segundo, CA
Responsibilities to include:
- Guide engineering efforts for space-based sensing systems focused on detecting and tracking time-critical targets in support of missile defense initiatives.
- Oversee the development and execution of engineering processes, including requirements engineering, verification, and validation to meet mission objectives.
- Conduct latency analysis and optimize real-time transfer service (RTS) for missile detection and tracking systems.
- Manage system integration and testing activities for projects including Tranche 0, Tranche 1, and Missile Track Custody.
- Leverage expertise in advanced missile tracking technologies, including SBIRS and Next-Gen OPIR, to enhance system performance.
- Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICD) to ensure interoperability and compliance with established message formats and data standards.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and other government partners, to align system capabilities with mission needs.
- Support the development of OPGA-79 and related operational standards to ensure successful mission execution.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, etc.). Relevant experience to be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI Access Eligibility
- 10 years of experience in space-based sensing of time-critical targets, focusing on development, integration, and testing.
- Expertise in missile defense, missile tracking, and advanced fire control systems.
- Familiarity with programs such as SBIRS, Next-Gen OPIR, and Missile Track Custody.
- Knowledge of latency analysis, RTS, and related technologies.
- Proficiency in systems engineering practices, including requirements management, system integration, and system testing.
- Experience with ICD development, message formats, and compliance with data standards.
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
