1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The Koren lab at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center uses genomic and computational approaches to study DNA replication timing and mutagenesis. The lab focuses on human populations and on comprehensive pan-cancer analyses, integrating additional large-scale genomics and epigenomics datasets. We develop methods for inferring DNA replication dynamics from whole genome sequence data, analyze the inter-relations between replication timing and epigenomic regulation, and understand the factors that affect mutation rates and patterns across normal and cancer genomes. More information is available at www.thekorenlab.org.The Bioinformatics Programmer will be involved in analyzing existing data related to population-level variation in DNA replication timing among humans, developing new pipelines for the inference of DNA replication timing along with DNA copy number from cancer genomes, applying those pipelines to thousands of cancer samples, and performing downstream cancer genomics analyses including mutation patterns. He/she will have experience in one or more of the following: human genetics/genomics, cancer genetics/genomics, epigenetics, genome stability, genotyping and mutation calling and analysis, genome-wide association studies and/or quantitative trait loci mapping, population genetics, or similar disciplines. Expert knowledge in one or more programming environments such as R, Python, Matlab or similar, and experience analyzing large-scale datasets using computer cluster or cloud platforms. Previous publications in peer-reviewed journals are required.
The lab offers flexible working schedules, ability to pursue cutting-edge research both independently and collaboratively, and a welcoming and supportive environment.
