Title: Senior Laboratory Technician

1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The laboratory of Dr. Liya Ding is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, immune-oncology research environment as part of her research team in the Department of Immunology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Dr. Ding's laboratory applies molecular biology techniques, immunological techniques, and multiple model systems, including in vitro coculture systems, Genetically Engineered Mouse Models (GEMMs) and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models to address challenging mechanisms in immunosuppression and drug resistance in cancer treatment.

The successful candidate will assist with multiple ongoing research projects in the laboratory. The responsibilities include:

Maintain mouse colonies, including mice weaning and genotyping, assists with or conducts in vivo experiments.

Perform molecular biology experiments (e.g. cell culture, DNA/RNA analysis, cell preparation and flow cytometry analysis).

Data recording, analysis, reporting and interpretation.

Contribute to laboratory management, overall vivarium organization, and IACUC protocols.

Salary range for this position is $44,086 - $56,108 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

1. Master's degree in a science-related field; or
2. Bachelor's degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks; or
3. Associate's degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks; or
4. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time laboratory experience, including six (6) months experience training or leading subordinate staff or students in the performance of assigned laboratory tasks.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have their Bachelors degree in biological sciences or equivalent, excellent communication skills and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff, and two years of experience in a research lab. They will also have mouse experience, experience weaning and genotyping mice, experience with in vivo experiments, and experience in molecular biology experiments (e.g. cell culture, DNA/RNA analysis, cell preparation and flow cytometry analysis. They will also have prior data recording, analysis, reporting and interpretation, prior laboratory management/organization (including vivarium) and familiarity with IACUC protocols.
