Title: Per Diem Case Manager

Job Type:

Temporary, Non-Benefited Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Case Management Time Type: Part time Weekly Hours: 4 FTE: 0.1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Develops and implements a centralized program to promote greater efficiency with completing, tracking and reporting clinical denial reviews to determine appropriate appeal of patient accounts. Combines nursing clinical, business, and regulatory knowledge and skill to reduce significant financial risk and exposure caused by concurrent and retrospective denial of payments for rendered services. Completes continuous assessments, problem identification, and education facilitating the quality of health care delivery in the most cost effective and efficient manner. Coordinates care of throughout the continuum of care; assesses appropriate level of care, communicates with patients and caregivers, medical staff, community agencies and third party payors to ensure efficient and appropriate care and resource utilization; utilizes assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation skills in the process of developing and executing a plan of care for the patient; evaluates new treatments and technologies and the cost/benefit of these to the patient; Acts as a lead; coordinates programs and initiatives under the direction of leadership; may assist in managing the department in the supervisor's absence. Prepares appeals as appropriate for denied hospital admissions. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

License Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and the equivalent of two (2) years of full –time clinical experience in the field of Utilization Management/Discharge Planning, Home Health Care or Case Management; or
2. Associate's degree in Nursing and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time clinical experience in the field of Utilization Management/Discharge Planning, Home Health Care or Case Management; or
3. Nursing diploma and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time clinical experience in the field of Utilization Management/Discharge Planning, Home Health Care or Case Management.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Utilization management experience

2. Discharge planning experience

3. Experiencing working in a hospital setting

4. Certified Case Manager
