Title: Maintenance Mechanic Company: Roswell Park Cancer Institute Department: Engineering & Maintenance Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Repairs, maintains, and performs preventive maintenance duties on building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing, and similar mechanical systems; assists with general maintenance activities as needed. This position performs maintenance for building mechanical systems on a campus setting that has medical, research, and office building types. This position has upward mobility potential upon successful demonstration of learning new skills and successful performance on the job. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time heating, ventilation and air conditioning experience under a journey-level HVAC mechanic, equivalent to training provided in an apprenticeship program.
1. Apprenticeship training in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning mechanics or training gained by the completion of technical courses in heating, ventilation and air conditioning mechanics at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted for the above training on a year for year basis.
2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in occupied commercial or healthcare building setting. In addition, must have the ability to read and understand operation and maintenance manuals. Must have experience in troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of one or more of the following: electrical systems, refrigeration equipment, building control, low voltage systems.
