Title: Maintenance Electrician Company: Roswell Park Cancer Institute Department: Engineering & Maintenance Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 Summary: Troubleshoots, tests, repairs and installs electrical systems and equipment; assists with other maintenance tasks; assists with general maintenance activities as needed. Responds to calls relating to the repair and operation of low voltage distribution systems, hospital equipment, lighting, fire alarms, motors, pneumatic tube systems and other electrical services and equipment.
Troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces electrical devices and equipment.
Tests fire alarm and other electrical systems as required by The Joint Commission (TJC) and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA).
Tests emergency generator and emergency transfer switch systems under load.
Performs routine inspections of equipment and systems. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time electrical experience under a journey-level electrician, equivalent to training provided in an apprenticeship program.
1. Apprenticeship training as an electrician or training gained by the completion of technical courses as an electrician at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted for the above training on a year for year basis.
2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
The preferred candidate will be an Electrician with 5 years experience in troubleshooting performing maintenance work on electrical systems in commercial and healthcare facilities. Experience in troubleshooting and performing work on active low voltage systems like fire alarm, nurse call, and building controls. Ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft office programs and/or perform equipment programming.
