Title: Chair - Department of Surgical Oncology

Regular Company: Roswell Park Cancer Institute Department: Surgical Oncology Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (RPCCC), America's first cancer center and New York State's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center outside of the New York City Metropolitan area, is recruiting for the Chair of the Department of Surgical Oncology. The department is comprised of 17 surgeons representing all aspects of surgical oncology; upper GI, HPB, colorectal, melanoma, sarcoma, endocrine, breast, and regional therapies such as HIPEC. Roswell Park is on the cutting edge of robotic surgery for GI and HPB malignancies, including one of the largest series of robotic esophagectomy. Several of the faculty members are also surgeon-scientists with dedicated basic science laboratories. The department has a long-standing ACGME approved Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship (4 fellows per year) as well as an SSO approved breast fellowship (1 fellow per year). Roswell Park has experienced tremendous clinical growth over the last few years, including having multiple affiliated institutions across all of New York state.

Responsibilities of the Chair would include administrative oversight over departmental faculty, fellows, physician extenders, and researchers; implementation of departmental growth strategies to support the institution's clinical expansion mission; working closely with Roswell Park leadership on institutional operations and strategic development; and collaboration with the institute's basic scientists and other departments to facilitate inter-departmental cancer research and novel clinical trial development. There would also be an opportunity for ongoing research if the candidate already has a basic science/translational/outcomes background.

Minimum requirements are an actively practicing clinical surgical oncologist for several years, board certification, and eligibility to obtain a medical license in the state of New York. The preferred candidate will already have prior experience in a leadership position.

Salary range is $257,500-$462,319 which includes a comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

The candidate must have a license to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York and a Medical Doctor degree and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in area of expertise including one (1) year experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in a leadership roles along with board certification or eligibility in a surgical subspecialty with expertise in treating oncologic patients and disease.
