Organization Overview

The Rockefeller University Press publishes three biomedical research journals: Journal of Cell Biology, Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Journal of General Physiology. We are committed to identifying and publishing the highest quality research. All editorial decisions are made in conjunction with active academic scientists, and peer-review operations and production functions are carried out at the RUP offices.
Overview

**The position is temporary, commencing July 2024 and ending January 2025**

 

The Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM) is a multidisciplinary journal, published by not-for-profit academic publisher Rockefeller University Press (RUP), dedicated to publishing high-quality research in experimental medicine and disease pathogenesis.

 

This is a full-time position in a hybrid-remote setting. Fully remote considered for candidates with editorial experience.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will report to the JEM Executive Editor and work closely with a team of Scientific Editors and experts on JEM academic and associate editorial boards to

  • Assess submitted manuscripts for scope, originality, rigor, context, and implications, and provide editorial recommendations
  • Oversee all aspects of the editorial process, including management of peer review for assigned manuscripts
  • Commission and recruit front-matter content
  • Liaise with RUP marketing and production teams to ensure timely publication and active promotion of JEM articles
  • Promote JEM and RUP policies and initiatives

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. with research experience in areas within JEM scope. Editorial experience preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills and superb attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work successfully both independently and in a team.
  • Strong interest in scientific publishing and publication ethics.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.


Compensation Range: Min

USD $83,000.00/Yr.
Compensation Range: Max

USD $90,000.00/Yr.
