We currently have an opportunity for a Food Safety & Quality Management Specialist to join our team at our newly constructed, state of the art, Richardson Innovation Centre, located in downtown Winnipeg, MB. This position is responsible for maintaining food safety and quality management preventative controls and programs, conducting audits to ensure compliance, and providing support to technical teams at the facilities as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain corporate Quality Assurance and Food Safety systems, programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and certification requirements

  • Work directly with operations facility teams to ensure Food Safety preventive controls and programs consistently function as intended

  • Lead internal food safety audit program, and coordinate and oversee third party audits

  • Manage certification scheme programs for execution at the operations level

  • Work directly with customers, regulators and certifying bodies to exchange Quality Assurance and Food Safety related information, data, documentation, etc.

  • Knowledgeable of applicable industry and regulatory updates

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Science or a related field, plus three years of experience in quality assurance and food safety, or more than three years of equivalent experience

  • Leadership abilities with strong communication, analytical and investigative skills.

  • Working knowledge of quality assurance, food safety and food defense systems, and applicable Grain and Food Processing Certifications and Regulations.

  • Food Safety Auditing Experience

  • Knowledge of Food Manufacturing (Oat Flaking, Wheat Flour, Edible Oils), considered an asset
