Summary:
The Sales Trainee is responsible for completing the Sales Trainee orientation program that covers all aspects of business sales within a comprehensive and progressive timeframe. This includes learning the company products and services, gaining familiarity with branch operations, building high quality relationships with new and existing customers, and learning how to generate profitable sales. Trainees will gain practical hands-on experience as well as learn the Company's mission, vision, culture, and values. Upon successful completion of all workplace assignments, the trainee will be able to apply for a sales role within the company.
What You'll Do:
- Complete the Sales Trainee orientation program with emphasis in the areas of product knowledge, warehouse operations, customer service, sales, and marketing support
- Will gain knowledge of all aspects of the sales process including but not limited to outside sales, inside sales, counter sales, project management, etc.
- Become proficient in answering customer inquiries regarding product needs and processing orders
- Generate quotes and prices, give delivery specifications and payment terms, and offer substitute products where appropriate
- Learn to build and maintain customer relationships and provide excellent customer service, be responsive to requests for information, and establish priorities for processing transactions to support sales
- Learn and ensure completion of operational documents and reports such as counter sales reports, shipping documents, tickets, price sheets, and catalogues
- Learn and become proficient in the computer tools and systems used in day-to-day operations
- Works “hands on” in a rotation of various roles within a branch, warehouse, project house, etc. to understand operations and logistics of the materials flow and sales
- May travel on sales calls to shadow
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School or GED - Required
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Basic analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Good communication skills with team, team leaders, and customers
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or questions from customers or members of the business community
