Staff Software Engineer, ML Topics - Provo

Why We Have This Role

  • Qualtrics is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help build our next generation text analytics services
  • We want to further existing capabilities to help customers visualize and understand hundreds of millions of unstructured text data points

How You'll Find Success

  • Our team is on the cutting edge of Qualtrics' new AI offerings.
  • You'll be expected to participate in requirements gathering, design and architecture discussions, fullstack development, and code reviews. You will take ownership of features and coordinate contributors (cross teams and function) to ensure development and delivery. 
  • Your week to week will involve operational excellence and quality improvements. 
  • We expect our senior contributors to be excellent communicators who influence the technical direction of the team and mentor junior engineers who work alongside them.
  • We are looking for an engineer who also has a passion for details and who works well with others across disciplines, and can empathize with customer needs.

How You'll Grow

  • You will be challenged to push the state of the art in LLMs and other AI capabilities, finding ways to delight customers and solve their most important use cases.
  • You will work across a breadth of technologies, touching all levels of the stack from Kubernetes, NodeJS services, React, databases, AWS cloud services and more.
  • You will participate in design and architecture discussions with your peers, gaining insight from their experiences.

Things You'll Do

  • Develop both frontend features and backend services, APIs to extend our text analytics platform
  • Teach and mentor other engineers, lead projects and initiatives
  • Drive new innovation by working closely with Machine Learning and Applied Science engineering teams to leverage state of the art in ML and LLMs   
  • Participate in scrum meetings, design+architecture sessions, collaborate w/engineers, product and quality to prioritize and ship features and improvements

What We're Looking For On Your Resume

  • 6+ years of relevant experience, deeply technical
  • Project/feature lead experience
  • Strong background in systems architecture, unix, linux, command line tooling and open source.
  • Strong front-end experience with modern Javascript/Typescript, ReactJS, Redux, CSS, SaSS, Node.js, etc...
  • Strong backend development experience in one or more languages like TypeScript, Java, Scala, Javascript, Golang, Python, C#
  • Passion for delivering products end-to-end: from ideation through planning and scoping to implementation and experimental A/B testing, analytics
  • Familiarity with different database technologies
  • Architecting systems that operation on large quantities of data
  • Experience with professional software engineering practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documents)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or suitable industry experience
