Quality Carriers, Inc. (QC), headquartered in Tampa, FL, is North America's largest bulk liquid chemical carrier. Through a network of more than 100 terminals and facilities, we transport a broad range of chemical products and provide our customers with value-added transportation services. 

This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process and complex balance sheet reconciliations. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, self-motivated, team player with a solid working knowledge of GAAP, full-cycle business processes, and internal controls. The candidate is required to have a flexible learning style and take on new tasks rapidly.

Essential Functions

  • Balance Sheet Analysis and Reconciliations: This includes the ability to quickly flag discrepancies, resolve open issues in a timely manner, and understand fluctuations in balances. This role requires gaining an understanding of the underlying business transactions that influence the reconciliation and working with many departments. This will include working on ad-hoc projects with other groups within the organization to gain efficiencies and accuracy within the QC accounting function.
  • Operational Accounting and Analysis: Gather information necessary from other departments to accurately  complete monthly financial reporting and identify changes in the business that may impact accounting methods and processes.
  • Analyze, report and remit unclaimed property. Work on QC related accounting integration projects as it relates to future acquisitions.
  • Miscellaneous responsibilities as assigned. 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • CPA is a plus

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in staff accounting
  • Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities (Competencies)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Good communication skills are a must  

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  

Work Location: During training it will be on-site five days a week. Will transition to Hybrid. 

Travel: 0% 

Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office and computer equipment.
