Description

The Dean of Online Education is an experienced visionary who spearheads the growth and development of online programs. The Dean will provide strategic direction and oversight to online program directors, ensuring their respective programs maintain academic excellence. This role involves driving innovation in curriculum development, launching new programs, fostering interdepartmental collaboration, developing and enforcing online policies, and maintaining strong partner relationships. The Dean will also lead ABHES accreditation efforts and continuously enhance the quality of online education delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide leadership to online program directors, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and accountability across all online programs. Maintain clear communication across teams to ensure alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards.
  • Supervise the development, implementation, and evaluation of online programs. Ensure that curricula align with the latest trends in healthcare education and meet ABHES accreditation standards. Lead the accreditation oversight process for online programs, including program reviews, curriculum updates, and compliance with accrediting bodies. Review and maintain program metrics to drive improvement and growth. 
  • Oversee the design and launch of new online programs and initiatives to expand the institute's online education offerings. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify market demand and innovative program ideas.
  • Work with program directors and faculty to review and enhance online curricula, incorporating cutting-edge pedagogical practices, healthcare trends, and emerging technologies. Ensure that all program outline changes comply with accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure all online programs meet institutional, state, and accrediting body standards. Oversee the program review process to ensure adherence to ABHES guidelines and regulatory requirements. Lead continuous quality improvement processes to maintain academic excellence.
  • Participate in strategic planning efforts for online education, identifying areas of growth, opportunities for partnerships, and expansion of student access to healthcare programs.
  • Utilize data and metrics to assess program performance and student outcomes. Implement improvements based on feedback and trends.
  • Collaborate with student services, faculty development, and support teams to enhance the online student experience, ensuring high retention, satisfaction, and success. Ensure that program changes and developments are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.

MANAGEMENT DUTIES:

  • Monitors and assesses the performance of their team members, providing recognition and rewards and addressing any issues or problems.
  • Assigns and directs work to staff members within the department.
  • Trains new and existing employees, providing feedback, coaching, and supporting their professional growth and career advancement. 
  • Interviews, hires, orients, and trains new employees in collaboration with program directors.
  • Reviews, approves, and submits the faculty time sheets to the payroll department or system. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Education, Healthcare, or a related field 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education leadership, focusing on online program management
  • Proven track record in healthcare education, program development, and curricular innovation
  • Working knowledge of accreditation processes, specifically ABHES and compliance standards
  • Experience in supervising teams and leading cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum qualifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Terminal Degree in Education, Healthcare, or a related field
  • Experience launching new online programs
  • Familiarity with ABHES healthcare accreditation standards
  • Strong commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in an online learning environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on new partnership developments
