Position Summary:
The Manager of Tooling Support programs serves as the critical operational bridge that transforms Penske's equipment and tooling investments into measurable field performance outcomes. This role exists to ensure that sophisticated tooling programs translate into practical, day-to-day operational excellence across all maintenance locations. This position drives maximum return on Penske's tooling investments by ensuring field teams have the right equipment, training, and support to maintain peak operational performance without requiring continuous capital expenditure on new equipment. By maintaining optimal tooling functionality and team readiness, this role directly protects Penske's ability to deliver consistent, high-quality maintenance services that keep customer fleets operational and minimize downtime.
Major Responsibilities:
• Conduct daily operational reviews and provide targeted coaching to Shop Equipment & Tooling Support (SETS) and Centralized Tool Ordering & Maintenance (CTOM) supervisor teams, focusing on workflow optimization, resource allocation, and delivery performance metrics.
• Lead and empower Shop Equipment & Tooling Support (SETS) and Centralized Tool Ordering & Maintenance (CTOM) teams by providing strategic direction, allocating necessary resources, and fostering innovation across both decentralized and centralized work environments to identify process improvements and field support opportunities.
• Optimize operational efficiency by strategically managing schedules, routes, inventory control, and tooling asset management while implementing cost-reduction initiatives and productivity enhancement measures across all tooling support operations.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Finance, Systems and Analytics teams to gather, analyze, and translate performance data, feedback metrics, resource utilization patterns, and tooling failure trends into strategic insights, then work cross-functionally with Sourcing, Onsite, Facilities, Environmental, Fuels, Safety, and Field Operations to establish and continuously evolve both SETS and CTOM programs.
• Monitor and enforce health, safety, and regulatory compliance standards across all trucks, repair centers, shipping and receiving facilities, and storage areas while implementing safety protocols and promoting a culture of safe working practices throughout tooling support operations.
• Other projects or tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Business Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management preferred. If no degree, equivalent work experience is required
• 3 years of experience in solving complex problems, high customer satisfaction, cross-functional collaboration, managing projects, technology implementation and developing people
• 3 years of warehouse and/or Field Service Supervisory experience required
• Must have introductory budgeting and cost control skills
• Intermediate level tool and truck technical proficiency required
• Intermediate level quality and compliance oversight knowledge
• Must have advanced project and workforce planning skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must have intermediate problem-solving skills
• Ability to develop and coach teams
• Ability to adapt and flexible adjusting schedules and planes in response to unexpected challenges or changes
• Advanced focus on prioritizing customer satisfaction by building strong relationships, addressing complaints promptly and incorporating feedback into service processes
• Ability to travel up to 50% required
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
