Take charge. Think fast. Move forward. As a co-op (6-12 month rotation) in the Maintenance Analytics department, you will apply your classroom experience to participate in key project initiatives to solve complex problems for our internal and external customers. Throughout your co-op experience, you will support Maintenance Analytics Team and gain practical knowledge in application of data science and analytics in diverse business functions.
You'll apply your engineering skillsets alongside strong interpersonal skills to gather customer needs and translate those needs into technical requirements for tools and solutions within analytics. You will regularly work with IT in identifying best practices in data engineering and solution deployment that will meet customer expectations. You will assist data scientists and analysts in maintenance initiatives which entail owning and managing modules in development cycles. You will leverage in-house information base to grow skillsets in cloud technologies for analytics (Dataiku, AWS, etc.). You will have the opportunity to collaborate with several teams within Maintenance and throughout the Penske Organization. Major Responsibilities:
- Observe, analyze, and deliver results focusing on development of new analytical solutions and improvement of current tools for Penske maintenance initiatives
- Recommend opportunities for business / operational process improvements and evaluate the business impact
- Analyze statistical data to determine logical and appropriate standards, validate performance and make better business decisions
- Create data enrichment processes to use for downstream analytical solutions, which entails assimilation, manipulation and analysis of data from systems, processes observations, and other data sources
- Analyze and improve processes through use of Six Sigma toolsets
- Prepare and present materials for business leaders
Qualifications:
- Working toward Bachelor's in Engineering or equivalent – entering sophomore year or higher
- Strong interest in data-analytics & solution engineering
- GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
- Proficient understanding of core statistics, computer science and engineering skillsets
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization
- Analytical skills / aptitude
- Written, oral communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Visio
- Experience with Minitab, Python, R, SQL or other statistical and querying software is a plus
- Willingness to travel, including overnight, up to approximately 25%
- Ability to relocate to Reading, PA with a car for transportation
- Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required
