Description

The Network Operations Center (NOC) provides Paycom with 24-hour oversight into the health and performance of Paycom technology, as well as ensuring that uptime-effecting events are handled appropriately and with urgency.  The IT NOC Analyst I ensures their assigned day to day NOC responsibilities get handled efficiently and diligently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support multiple technical teams in a 24 x 7 x 365 environment with high uptime requirements.  Varied shift schedules may include day or evening hours.
  • Perform basic systems testing and operational tasks (network connectivity testing, site availability testing, service health verifications).
  • Provide timely response to all uptime events, outages, or performance alerts. Follow playbooks and identify issues that require escalation to appropriate technical teams.
  • Monitor a wide variety of information and network systems that include, but are not limited to LAN/WAN systems, servers, applications, VoIP systems, databases, and websites.
  • Identify, analyze, and prioritize alerts in accordance with business requirements, organizational policies, and operational impact. Follow up on outage and performance alerts to verify they are acknowledged and being addressed. 
  • Basic administration and maintenance duties for the existing monitoring tools.
  • Assist with the day-to-day analysis of the deployed monitors including identifying gaps which need addressed.
  • Assist with deploying monitoring updates and changes.
  • Assist with maintaining the configurations of deployed monitoring software systems.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of deployed monitoring solutions and escalation processes.
  • Analyze and correlate log files with active alerts or active incidents.
  • Assist senior team members during overflow or overnight critical incident events.
  • Help organize efforts of multiple teams during an incident.  Help facilitate efficient communications.
  • Field phone call escalations for testing environment and overnight helpdesk issues.
  • Performs additional duties and assignments as requested


Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree required (MIS, Info Sys, Computer Science, or related fields preferred).

Experience:

  • 1+ year of experience in IT related field.

Skills/Abilities:

  • General knowledge of operating systems, networks, databases, and web applications.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Strong customer communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with customers and technical personnel in high stress situations.
  • Write and document clear technical procedures.
  • Utilize dashboards and charts to understand and evaluate system resource utilization.  Requires knowledge compute components such as RAM, CPU, and storage.
  • Highly responsive with an ability to handle escalations quickly and professionally.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
