Description

This role of DevOps Platform Administrator is to design and manage a highly available containerization platform and related cloud native tools. The DevOps Platform team is responsible for maintaining all Kubernetes clusters and underlying technology required for hosting in a private cloud. As a DevOps Platform Administrator, you will collaborate with the team on the architecture, configuration, and maintenance of all DevOps related projects, tools and processes, as well as participate in troubleshooting, remediation, documentation and onboarding of new applications.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with team to architect, deploy and manage private cloud Kubernetes platforms and related cloud native tools
  • Work with development and configuration management teams to identify and resolve issues with applications and application deployment pipelines
  • Configure Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Maintain, contribute or enhance Gitlab repositories utilized by day-to-day operations
  • Utilize automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar
  • Work support tickets assigned to the DevOps team
  • Monitor system performance and logs and provide reports for management's awareness into the technical health of Paycom's infrastructure
  • Capacity planning and forecasting
  • Develop team documentation for day to day duties and team knowledge
  • Keep systems properly configured, updated, healthy, hardened and scaled to meet the needs of the business
  • Work with various technology teams to pro-actively evaluate DR plans, backup requirements, and failover procedures
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure we are properly licensed and up to date on renewals
  • Be responsible for and act as subject matter expert on any assigned systems


Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree

Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional IT, System Administration experience
  • 2+ years of experience with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes/Docker)

Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and other related container/Cloud Native Technologies (CNCF)
  • Virtualization experience using VMware vCenter/ESXi
  • Knowledge of CI/CD systems and processes
  • Knowledge of SCM tools like Gitlab or Bitbucket
  • Monitoring and logging technologies such as Prometheus/Grafana and Splunk
  • Scripting automation with powershell, python or bash
  • Experience troubleshooting Network and Firewall issues DNS, ports and firewalls, VLANs, NAT

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Info Sys, Computer Science or related fields
  • CKA / CKS / CKAD
  • RHCA/Linux+

Experience:

  • Linux administration
  • High availability and disaster recovery planning and design.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience with web application architecture and technologies
  • Multi-node system (HA) architecture planning and design
  • Load-balancing concepts and deployments
  • Scripting languages (PowerShell, python, bash)
