Job Summary:
The Field Network Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems and equipment at customer sites. This role requires technical expertise in networking, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Setup:
- Install and configure networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related devices.
- Set up network connections, including fiber, Ethernet, and wireless connections.
- Install and configure network operating systems and software.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to network connectivity, hardware failures, and system performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance and regular network health checks to ensure optimal system performance.
- Respond to customer service requests and incidents in a timely and professional manner.
- Technical Support:
- Provide on-site or remote support for network-related problems, offering troubleshooting advice and solutions.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to resolve more complex issues.
- Offer training and guidance to clients on network usage and best practices.
- Network Configuration and Optimization:
- Configure and optimize local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and virtual private networks (VPN).
- Ensure that network designs meet client specifications and requirements.
- Monitor network performance and recommend improvements or upgrades.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of network configurations, repairs, and installations.
- Prepare detailed reports for clients and supervisors on network performance, issues, and resolutions.
- Compliance and Security:
- Ensure that all network systems comply with industry standards and security protocols.
- Implement and enforce network security measures, such as firewalls, encryption, and access controls.
Working Conditions:
- Travel to restaurant sites, which may involve occasional overnight stays.
- TERM CONTRACT POSITION TERM 3-6 MONTHS
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
- Familiar with networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.) and network management tools.
- Experience with wireless networking (Wi-Fi standards, site surveys).
- Certifications (Preferred):
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Other networking-related certifications (e.g., CCNP, CompTIA Security+)
- Experience:
- Prior experience in a technical support or network installation role, ideally in a field service capacity.
- Experience working with various networking environments (corporate, industrial, etc.).
- Other Requirements:
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to lift and transport heavy networking equipment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for frequent travel to client locations
