Key responsibilities:
 
The successful candidate for this position will be required to ensure that their team is actively engaged with the college community.  This means to have the members of their team completing assigned tasks properly and in a timely manner.

The candidate that is awarded this position should be self-motivated, a proven leader and dedicated to a career in security.  This individual will also be required to complete duties as assigned and step in to assist members of their respective team with the daily functions of the security department. Other duties include:

  • Monitor and patrol the premises to ensure safety and security. 
  • Perform regular security checks of the property, including parking areas, entrances, exits, and other designated areas. 
  • Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized access or unlawful activities. 
  • Control access at entry points and ensure only authorized personnel enter the premises. 
  • Respond to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies and take appropriate actions as needed. 
  • Assist in the enforcement of company policies and procedures, including monitoring and reporting any suspicious activities. 
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or security breaches promptly to the management team. 
  • Complete daily logs and security reports, documenting any unusual occurrences. 
  • Provide assistance to employees, visitors, and vendors as needed. 
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and security equipment, ensuring they are functioning properly. 
  • Cooperate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other authorities when necessary. 
  • Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and ready for use. 
 

Prerequisites:     
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario   
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)  
  • Covid Vaccine two doses 
  • Valid G class Driver License & Clean Driving Abstract
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must   
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred. 
  • Diploma in Police Foundations, Protection Security & Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services preferred. 
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)   
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position   
    • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
