PRIMARY FOCUS: Coordinate the activities of security and operations personnel in the field. To monitor CCTV and fire and life safety systems, as well as acting as the point of first contact between the Manager's operations team and the Contractor's Personnel and other relevant parties (i.e. the public, the Manager's personnel, retail/office professional staff, contractors, etc).
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the dispatching of the Contractor's Personnel and where necessary the Manager's operations personnel to calls for service as required, which includes operating two-way communications systems;
- Monitor CCTV cameras (if applicable) to ensure the smooth operation of the Property and to follow up on reported incidents or suspicious activity;
- Coordinate incident response, including activating emergency services, directing security/operations personnel on required actions during incidents and actual or potential emergency situations;
- Maintain logs on the activities of security and operations personnel in the field to facilitate effective record-keeping;
- Review taped CCTV data for follow-up by law enforcement and supervisors;
- Answer and follow up appropriately on all incoming telephone calls to security;
- Monitor and disable or enable as appropriate fire alarm and sprinkler systems as required;
- Deal with the public, tenants and contractors regarding lost and found, key issues and other security or operations-related inquiries;
- Coordinate the activities of third-party contractors, from initial issue of ID badges to the monitoring of work practices to ensure optimum life safety; and x Monitor alarms for Manager's systems (if applicable).
Provide verbal or written direction, or both, (as authorized) to the Contractor's Personnel and where appropriate, the Manager's operations personnel in respect to the following:
- Coordinating the field activities of security personnel, including issuing patrol duties, assigning calls for service, allocating breaks and dispatching personnel as required;
- Coordinating the activities of security, operations and other site personnel during security- and safety-related incidents via CCTV (if applicable) and two-way communication devices;
- Coordinating security and operations personnel activities in response to actual or potential emergency incidents as per the guidelines set out in the Manager's Standard Operating Procedures; and
- Controls access to the security office and control center area at the Property
- Completion of grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
- Prior work experience in a customer service environment is a definite asset;
- Previous experience working as a security guard (or equivalent) is of benefit;
- WHMIS and other safety courses an asset;
- First Aid and CPR training is required;
- Provincial security license (if required by law); and
- Provincial certification required for Use of Force.
- 3-4 years security and life safety-related experience preferred;
- Basic knowledge of fire alarm and life safety and associated systems;
- Ability to learn and willingness to take job-related courses in operations/systems/security disciplines;
- Ability to learn and willingness to take job-related courses in operations/systems/security disciplines;
- Fire-fighting or other emergency response experience an asset;
- Excellent customer service and communication skills required;
- First Aid and CPR certification required;
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure; and
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations at the Property and the Manager's policies.
- Working knowledge of Windows-based computing systems and Google docs;
- Proficiency in typing in a timely and accurate manner;
- Basic knowledge of building systems (i.e. HVAC, sprinklers, mechanical systems, etc.); and
- Familiarity with fire/life safety equipment/systems.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
- Excellent customer service abilities; and
- Must be able to perform well in stressful situations.
- Must possess a valid “G” Class License

- No more than 2 minor convictions, no major convictions, and no more than 6 demerits in the last three years.
- First Aid & CRP Level C
- Basic Security Training
- A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
Minimum of 1 year security experience
