Position: | Part-Time Security Guard
Site: | St. Joseph's Care Group Facilities – St. Joseph's Hospital
Address: | 35 Algoma Street North
Hours: | Friday, Saturday and Sunday (15:30-00:00)
Payrate: | $ 19.80 / hour after completion of site training

Key responsibilities:
• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking
areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the
site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring
any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.

o You will be required to operate the Switchboard duties including call handling,
dispatching, monitoring of building alarm systems and CCTV.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only
authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical
emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises
and evacuations.

o Provide Use of Force/Restraint as required and directed under the Mental Health Act
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide
directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all
interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete
reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law
enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties
involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient
protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety
standards
Prerequisites:
• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Covid Vaccine two doses
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• Valid G class Driver License
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive
Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program
prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however,
Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the
position/availability
• Authorized to legally work in Canada
