Job Skills / Requirements

The Ogden Point Site Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that day-to-day operations at Ogden Point are conducted safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to perform regular site duties, including completing exterior and interior patrols, maintaining positive relationships with the client, and providing exceptional customer service. The candidate should also have a good understanding of computer programs such as Excel and be capable of managing three separate schedules from March to October.


This role involves regular communication with the Client Service Manager regarding significant site activities, providing oversight and guidance to the team (including coaching, recognition, and corrective action), conducting officer inspections, performing quality control checks, updating site documentation, and working closely with on-site clients to improve security operations.


Job Duties
  • Understand and proactively enforce community rules and regulations with a courteous and respectful attitude.
  • Provide direction, motivation, and ongoing training to the security team by maintaining open communication and leading by example.
  • Provide documented, critical feedback and coaching to officers working on-site; all feedback is reviewed by the Client Service Manager.
  • Ensure all officers complete an orientation checklist by the end of their training (includes site orientation sheet, OH&S sheet, and post order review).
  • Ensure all standing post orders, TrackTik chip placements, and scheduled daily activities are followed and performed correctly by the security team.
  • Regularly maintain and update site documents such as post orders, orientation sheets, and training records.
  • Creatively motivate staff on a daily basis to ensure high performance and a positive working environment.
  • Recognize exceptional performance by security officers and issue accolades where appropriate.
  • Participate in progressive disciplinary meetings with officers and the Client Service Manager as required.
  • Ensure memos and other documents are signed off regularly by the security team, hold individuals accountable, and escalate when necessary.
  • Assist in investigating security incidents and provide detailed reports through the proper chain of command (e.g., Supervisor, Client Service Manager) for external stakeholder follow-up.
  • Attend meetings with the Client Service Manager to provide updates on the security program and daily operations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the client regarding the security program, ensuring efficient site operations. Forward notes and new procedures or concerns to the Client Service Manager.
  • Respond to Ogden alarms while on shift.
  • Schedule and maintain up to three different schedules simultaneously.
  • Monitor the GVHA cruise schedule/PortLink website and related emails for ship time changes.

The successful candidate must be flexible with working hours and days. This is a full-time position offering $27.11 per hour.

Requirements
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least one year of security experience.
  • TSC certification.
  • Valid BC Security License.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.
  • Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Completion of extra-curricular training in the security field, including online courses provided by Paladin.
  • Valid OFA Level 1 and MOAB certificates, or willingness to complete within one month of accepting the position.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
