MISSION STATEMENT:

The Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading the security team, supporting on site leadership, and ensuring that the security services delivered on site are of a high standard. The Night Shift Supervisor has significant knowledge of Campus security best practices so they understand what needs to be done, and how they can further improve the site.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and manages all aspects of their assigned shift in accordance to the Paladin and TRU policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a high level of customer service by ensuring each visitor and telephone call into the Command Center is treated with a high regard that reflects credit upon TRU and Paladin.
  • Makes certain that security officers are accomplishing the day-to-day responsibilities of their role; this includes, but is not limited to, scheduled lock-ups/unlocks, alarm response, facilitating accesses, etc.
  • Ensures that the TRU Email accounts are read on a regular basis, and pertinent information is relayed to the security officers in a timely manner.
  • Prioritizes all calls for service and ensures all officers are utilized in an efficient manner as directed by the shift supervisor
  • Monitors, cameras to proactively identify situations which may negatively impact TRU's facility, staff, contractors, and visitors and respond appropriately, preventing or lessening the impact of these situations.
  • Stays proficient with all security systems in the Communications Centre and knows the appropriate response procedure.
  • Ensures the needs of each shift are met and communicates any requirements or ways to improve efficiencies to their Supervisor.
  • Leads shifts through all emergent situations and provides adequate direction and leadership in line with client and Paladin expectations.
  • Full understanding of TRU Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
  • Prioritizes all calls for service and ensures all officers are utilized in an efficient manner
  • Recognizes situations that will negatively impact the TRU's community; responds and escalates according to Security Operational Manual.
  • Oversees accuracy and comprehensiveness of reporting (TrackTik Incident Reporting), radio communication, and effective use of security systems – CCTV, Lenel, etc.
  • Provides coaching, mentorship, and training to staff as it relates to performance and conduct related issues.
  • Maintains a strong working relationship with site management team, and keeps them up to date with the events on site.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or requested by Site Supervisor, 2IC, OPS Manager and SPM.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Valid BC Security License is required
  • Class 5 Drivers license is required
  • Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) is considered an asset
  • Previous security experience in a Campus setting preferred.
  • Proven leadership ability and ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

 

Certification Requirements (All)

Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License
BC Security License
