Salary: Teacher Salary Scale *Negotiable

Summary:

This position assists the teacher in planning and implementing educational programs. Incumbent is required to have patience and be sensitive and receptive to the unique needs of students in a positive manner. This is a nonexempt position and is under contract and reports to the appropriate Principal & School Nurse. Incumbent may be required to work with elementary or high school students.


Responsibilities:

* Provide one on one tutoring for eligible students without interfering with regular instructional time from the teacher
* Assist the general education teacher in the performance of their daily teaching duties with students
* Develop and maintain areas of interest while working in the general education classrooms
* Assist with classroom management by organizing instructional and other materials.
* Assist students with online learning as needed.
* Provide instructional services to students under the direct supervision of the general education teacher
* Participate in weekly project planning and set up
* Follow student behavior plans, if written to assist with focus on academic learning, daily
* Attend staff meetings as needed/required
* Attend parent conferences and special meetings as required
* Adhere to strict confidentiality in all Oneida Nation School System matters
* Participate and learn the Oneida Language and incorporate into the classroom
* Work cooperatively with school personnel, parents and other community members

* Administering disciplinary rules to children and resolving situational conflicts among children
* Directing the activities of groups of children; evaluating progress and maintaining an orderly classroom
* Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines
* Interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds
* Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to write clear and concise reports and correspondences
* Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment
* Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice, and desire to help when dealing with students
* Knowledge of the different physical and mental development stages of children
* Ability to work as a team member to provide services to children
* Ability to interact and communicate effectively with children

* Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate leadership and team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm
* Ability to supervise and ensure a safe learning environment for school aged children

Education Requirement - Or A Closely Related Field:

Essential:
* Associates Degree in Education General

Credentials:

Nonessential:
* First Aid Certified within ninety (90) days of employment.
* Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certified within ninety (90) days of employment.
* Child Abuse Reporting Policy (CARP) Training (Hrd) within ninety (90) days of employment.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
