The role of a Technical Sales Engineer is critical to the overall growth, strategic framework, and execution of the Torrent Resources business. The candidate must be a highly skilled and motivated individual with strong communication and organizational skills to develop lasting customer relationships in support of a rapidly growing business. The Technical Sales Engineer helps position the organization to deliver strategic results by providing customer support on behalf of the company's various solutions and services, marketing to new and existing key accounts, and being viewed as a trusted consultant on projects within a region or territory. This a commercially focused position working closely with civil engineers, developers, builders, municipalities, city officials, government and non-government agencies, and more in support of stormwater management best practices, design specifications and project engineering.   

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Embrace and promote the company's core values along with driving a safety-first operating culture.
  • Develop relationships and maintain continuous contact with civil engineering community and other customers through presentations, project meetings, public meetings, trade shows, targeted speaking engagements, etc.
  • Support design teams in the specification and engineering of the company's stormwater solutions and services. Proficient at reading and interpreting drawings and building plans while also utilizing other internal resources to efficiently provide design support and answer technical questions.
  • Perform detailed analysis of each project to ensure proper specification of solutions and services to efficiently meet project goals and stormwater regulatory requirements.
  • Consistently stay informed of changing regulatory environment regarding stormwater, groundwater recharge, and infiltration policies.
  • Aggressively seek new opportunities to expand the company's footprint and service offering through the use of sustainable stormwater solutions while strengthening strategic relationships and creating customer value.
  • Maintain relationships with key developers, contractors, asset owners and more in support of favorable design specifications, increased sales, answering questions, negotiation, and providing technical guidance and support at product installations.
  • Maintain relationships with internal company resources by engaging in team meetings, providing training and constructive feedback, and working closely with others to manage customer requests.
  • Communicate effectively internally to share opportunities across business units, work through challenges, and keep colleagues updated on projects.
  • Communicate effectively externally to provide exceptional service to our clients and guide them through the process of properly designing and specifying stormwater solutions, products, and services.
  • Establish self as an expert in the subject of total stormwater management; detention/retention, treatment, infiltration, green infrastructure, and maintenance services.  
  • Become involved with professional organizations such as ASCE, PNCWA, APWA, and more.
  • Effectively maintain a CRM funnel through consistent updates using Salesforce projects, accounts, contacts, and activities.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience working with civil engineers, construction operations, or related field
  • Ability to review and understand civil construction specifications/drawings.
  • Strong understanding of stormwater regulatory environment
  • Coachable, enthusiastic, assertive, and technically inclined
  • Highly motivated to achieve personal and team success
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
