Job Summary
The continuous improvement engineer is the resource of reference for all manufacturing process routings and provides the link between all facets of operational processes and the information system in place, SAP/MES and all other departments. This role ensures that implementation and integration success is a priority. To execute efficiently and effectively, requires engaging at a deep level across the businesses, working in small teams to build the capabilities, systems, and processes needed to deliver results and then ensure those results will be sustained. The role requires strong coaching to ensure delivering lasting outcomes.
Responsibilities
Implements operating and production systems; drives and supports implementation of lean improvement activities on the shop floor and along the value stream
Improves the energy efficiency of manufacturing operations, while enhancing quality systems
Builds lean manufacturing capabilities in client organizations and to optimizes global networks of manufacturing facilities
Analyzes line layouts and employee utilization to increase throughput and efficiencies, eliminates waste and achieves cost savings
Partners with local operational teams to understand, define and master the functional routing processes and flow of required work in each BOL plant
Develops and masters all the lean language and tools of our lean philosophy and acts as the reference for lean continuous/improvement for each business within their area of focus
Is the ambassador of continuous improvement (CI) by promoting involvement, training and ownership of the tools
Determines and maintains appropriate routings, Production Versions, VC Tables and processes within established framework, obtains appropriate approvals for values that appropriately reflect production reality
Creates routings and super routings, production versions in SAP and coordinates and documents links to work centers, cost centers, processes, HMI and other SAP or MES objects
Coordinates with IT to establish and put dependencies and/or VC tables within structure, when needed
Ensures coordination and implementation of changes to assigned tasks with all relevant parties - e.g. production, product engineering & maintenance
Audits and reviews effectiveness tasks, including efficiencies in work center and provides suggestion, obtaining consensus for corrections
Defines and optimizes the process flow of routings to be performed by optimizing all available resources i.e. people, machine and equipment
Works with users to update process routing flow documentation and train users on establishing routing processes
Requirements
BS in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or relevant experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering and continuous improvement experience
Lean certification is a plus
Demonstrated understanding and use of OEE measurement
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology
Current knowledge in process redesign, utilizing Lean transformation tools
