Contract to begin:  School year 2024-2025 - 260 day contract
 

Salary:  $100,334 - $107,374 DOE
 

Required Qualifications: 
Alaska Type B Administrative Certificate, Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate and endorsement in Special Education.
 

Job Summary: 
The Program Administrator in the Special Education department reports to the Associate Superintendent-Office of Student Support. The Program Administrator provides leadership to help guide administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals and provides Special Education support across all MSBSD schools.


The position of Program Administrator for the Office of Student Support is responsible for collaborating with school administrators, teachers, classified staff, and community partners to analyze needs and design interventions for all students in MSBSD for the purpose of effecting positive behavioral change in students. The Program Administrator will also collaborate with area Behavioral Health, Federal Programs, OCS, and school districts to facilitate positive school transitions in Special Education. The position of Program Administrator in the Office of Student Support provides technical assistance to support inclusive practices, positive behaviors in the areas of PBIS/SEL, educational leadership, program development, school wide change, school culture and professional learning community development as well as other duties assigned. The position is under the general supervision of the Associate Superintendent of Student Support Services.

 

The Matanuska Susitna Borough School District leadership team is seeking: 

An administrator who can demonstrate the highest level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and commitments in the following administrative standards:
 

  • Coordinate and implement professional learning and support with teachers, parents, students, and partner agencies.

  • Works closely with the Office of Instruction to provide quality training at all three tiers in MTSS: universal, secondary, and tertiary.

  • Train and provide ongoing technical assistance and data analysis support to staff who use school wide data collection systems.

  • Train and provide ongoing technical assistance in effective behavior interventions including schoolwide, classroom, and individual student behavior intervention plans.

  • Design and implement staff training for teachers and administrators on the elements of social emotional learning, youth development, school climate and culture.

  • Provide support for the commitment to inclusive schools and classrooms, through promotion of effective practices demonstrated to eliminate the opportunity and achievement gap for students.

  • Select, train, supervise and evaluate assigned classified and certificated staff.

  • Research, identify, and train district staff in all areas in Special Education.

  • Develop and administer programs and services for students in Special Education  for the purpose of improved functioning and ensuring program eligibility and compliance with established guidelines.

  • Consult with special education teachers, and/or general education teachers, site administrators, support staff, families, and related agencies, as appropriate, to design and implement multi-faceted support for the development of strong Least Restrictive Environments (LRE) throughout the district. 

  • Act as a liaison between district administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure continuity of services and programs.

  • Provide in-service and on-site training to staff in all areas of Special Education. 

  • Conduct evaluations and observations for both certified and classified staff. 

  • Demonstrate and implement appropriate and effective techniques and other instructional strategies for Special Education Teachers.

  • Technical support in other areas as requested and appropriate (e.g., IEP development, response to trauma, positive behavior interventions and support, data collection, instructional material development, scheduling, overall classroom management and training)

  • Identify, develop, and implement practices to build trauma-informed schools and communities, including least restrictive environment (LRE) and all aspects of multi-tiered systems of support.

  • Performs job assignment safely for the purpose of protecting people and property.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
