Position Summary:

Supports the enhancement and utilization of all Finance systems, with a primary focus on the Workday application.  Completes configuration, reporting and troubleshooting of Workday Finance platform, liaison with internal users and external vendors to ensure smooth Workday operations. Supports the day-to-day operations for all modules implemented at NRECA including Core Financials, Supplier Accounts, Procurement, Expenses, Customer Accounts, Settlements, Business Assets, Cash Management, Timekeeping, Projects, Grants and Adaptive (Budgeting and Planning), Sourcing as well as other Finance SaaS systems including Palette, Chrome River, and ADP.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works across all Workday Financial functional & Technical areas including Core Financials, Time tracking, Expenses, Customer Account, Settlements, Procurement, Projects & Grants. Supports Workday end-users, resolving questions and issues and documenting outcomes.
  • Develops Workday Finance reporting (Workday Advanced, Composite and BIRT), configuring and revising reports based on stakeholder input. Delivers timely and appropriate reports to Finance leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Participates in Configure, Maintain, and troubleshoot in functions of Workday, including but not limited to Business Processes, Setups and Integrations. Works closely with Workday Finance team and NRECA leadership to design and set up appropriate Workday configuration aligned with business needs.
  • Assists with needs assessments, system integrations, design support, and general change management support. Works with NRECA leaders to determine appropriate use cases for new design, configuration or reporting and designs and delivers changes timely and with clear communication.
  • Stays updated with industry best practices, Workday updates, and emerging technologies to suggest improvements and optimize existing integrations. Evaluates NRECA systems against Workday roadmap; proposes changes to business processes and adapts technological solutions to business needs as they arise.
  • Acts as Named Support Contact with Workday, including assessing and communicating applicable incoming notifications from Workday for Finance, HR and IT.
  • Collaborates with external vendors and third-party service providers to facilitate integrations and resolve any issues as needed.
  • Ensures the quality and effectiveness of services performed by Workday consultants or contractors.
  • Conducts Workday Release and UAT testing. Reviews and communicates relevant release updates, coordinates with stakeholders to conduct, review and document testing results. Compares the go-live releases in Workday to testing results and addresses any required updates or changes.
  • Works collaboratively with Finance, HR, IT and SS&P stakeholders to develop solutions and to ensure data consistency, data integrity, and accurate generation and reporting of information in Workday and other Finance systems.
  • Responsible for the proper security and disposal of any confidential information that he or she may possess in the course of performing this position's job duties, in accordance with NRECA's Personnel & Administrative Policy and HIPAA Privacy and Security Policies & Procedures Manuals.

Qualifications

Formal Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
 

Experience and Certifications Required:

3 or more years of experience with accounting, finance, or comparable work experience.

2 or more years of Workday experience, including Workday reporting, with strong preference for Workday Finance experience.

Experience with application/software testing processes (Manual and Automated - Unit, System, and Integration)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (as demonstrated by prior work experience):

  • Knowledge of Workday Platform Technology, Security and Finance Business Areas.
  • Knowledge of Workday Reporting (Advanced, Composite, Matrix, Dashboards, BIRT).
  • Ability to create and maintain custom fields, validation rules, calculated fields, etc., to meet business requirements.
  • Ability to perform Workday configurations, security maintenance, business process management, data loads, data extractions and report writing.
  • Ability to listen and interpret the customer's needs, de-escalate difficult customer calls, while at the same time researching the issue and applying broad business and technical knowledge to meet the customer's satisfaction.
  • Ability to define issues, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and apply to work environment as demonstrated by prior work experience.
  • Ablity to provide support to end-users of the Workday platform, answering questions, resolving issues, and following through on any reported or unresolved issues ensuring timely and reliable response.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects at various stages of development using effective organization skills and attention to detail as demonstrated by prior work experience.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) and to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, fax machine or other job-related equipment.
  • Ability to provide service excellence by building relationships, being resourceful, responsive and respectful.
  • Ability to report to the office when required.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
