Description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Northwell Health seeks a qualified M.D. or M.D., Ph.D. physician, to serve as system Vice Chair of Anatomic Pathology. Northwell Health is a 23-hospital system serving the greater New York metropolitan area. System-wide, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine accessions over 270,000 surgical pathology and over 275,000 cytopathol­ogy cases per year. The department employs 140 pathologists, of whom fifty-five are in the central region subspecialty-based Anatomic Pathology Services unit, and eighty-five serving in practices at the distributed tertiary and community hospitals of the network. The department is home to Pathology Residency Training Programs for thirty-two pathology residents and seven subspecialty fellowships.

This individual will provide senior oversight of Anatomic Pathology Services at Northwell Health, to include visible and accessible leadership to health system clinical programs and physician practice communities. A high level of experience and skill in a subspecialty area of Anatomic Pathology is expected, and this individual will practice Anatomic Pathology at an appropriate system practice site. Faculty rank at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell will be in accordance with qualifications.

Required qualifications include American Board of Pathology board certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP), with subspecialty AP training and experience. The individual will be expected to have, or successfully obtain, a New York State license to practice medicine and to hold or be eligible for a New York State Certificate of Qualification in Histopathology. An academic background with demonstrated academic accomplishments is desirable.
