Overview:

Oversees and administers Intermodal and Automotive (IMAU) capital budget, $100-300M annually. Responsible for management of physical IMAU assets and drives efficiencies in ~$500M IMAU expense budget.

 

Duties:

  • Works with various stakeholders across the company to develop capital plans for IMAU that are aligned with strategic direction provided by leadership, efficient, and well supported by quantitative analyses.
  • Owns all aspects of IMAU Ops capital budgeting, including administration of IMAU Terminal Fund and rebalancing of funding to reflect evolving priorities.
  • Develops business cases for uses of capital, develops measures of success and tracks them to make recommendations to leadership to improve efficiency and impact of future decisions.
  • Supports and acts as a sparring partner for operators on business rationale and prioritization for various initiatives that require funding and owns tactical administration of funding.
  • Collaborates with Marketing, Design & Construction, Finance stakeholders to understand capital investment and timeline required to support new opportunities, organic growth and other changes to the business.
  • Partners with Terminal Operators, Sourcing, FP&A, and other stakeholders to develop detailed analyses of expense patterns, and spearheads initiatives to manage cost of operation.

 

Education:

Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BS) 

Preferred major: Engineering

 

 

Required background:

  • Strong background in financial analysis, with experience building advanced financial models.
  • Ability to create written material – presentations, business cases and issue briefs that can be shared with senior audiences (Board, CEO, EVPs, etc.) without modifications.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with ability to present to senior audiences.

 

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with Industrial Development and/or Design and Construction
  • Experience being self-sufficient with retrieving and analyzing data
  • Familiarity with railroad operations and/or strategy
  • Familiarity with Intermodal terminals and technology
  • Familiarity with Operations Research
