Come join an amazing team at NJM in Commercial Lines! For the benefit of NJM's Commercial Lines policyholders, the Underwriting Technician (Underwriting Assistant) is responsible for new and renewal policy rating, issuance, and mid-term changes.  May also supplement the Commercial Customer Contact Center by handling customer inquiries. Work must be completed within the department's established guidelines for time and quality of work.

At the conclusion of the in office training period this position has the ability to work from home up to 2 days per week and in the West Trenton office 3 days per week.

The Schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 8:45am-5:00pm ( the training hours will vary).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Review incoming policy specification inquiries and/or Renewal Questionnaires and recognize changes that need to be addressed and/or referred  
•    Provide customer support via phone and e-mail to policyholders or brokers related to questions about providing documentation, payment by phone and certificate requests  
•    Verify accuracy and completeness of information necessary to process changes
•    Process mid-term changes and issue new business and renewal policies
•    Take action on any specific renewal activities or instructions
•    Manage all work assignments and plan for date sensitive activities in advance of taking PTO
•    When unsure of how to handle a particular situation, seek advice and guidance from supervisor or other senior staff
•    Handles certificate requests from customers in a timely fashion. If the certificates require more attention, they are to be sent to our certificate of insurance processors for completion

Required Qualifications and Experience:
•    High school diploma or equivalent required
•    Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
•    Strong communications skills (verbal, written and active listening)
•    Ability to multi-task and to deal with interruptions and able to regain focus on task at hand
•    Proficiency in computer usage, accurate data entry, Microsoft office suite and business-related software
•    Ability to collaborate with other co-workers
 

The salary range for this position is $44,673-$50,000 and is commensurate with experience.
