NPI Engineering Manager - Product Launch

Job Overview: 

We are seeking an experienced and motivated NPI manager to join our dynamic Engineering team. As an NPI manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the successful transition of new products from validated design to manufacturing, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Your expertise will drive process improvements, implement best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve our production goals and deliver superior products to the market.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership

  • Leading a team comprising engineers specialized in NPI, process engineering, and manufacturing test engineering.

Release for Manufacturing of New Product

  • Conduct detailed feasibility analyses and risk assessments, and develop project plans for NPI initiatives to meet time-to-market goals.
  • Collaborating with design engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams at CMs to ensure seamless product transitions from validated prototype to mass production.
  • Develop and refine initial builds and release strategies to optimize the efficiency, yield, and product quality during the NPI phase.

Process Development and Optimization:

  • Establish and improve fast prototyping and manufacturing processes and procedures to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and minimize production costs.
  • Implement Six Sigma principles to improve the process and increase overall operational efficiency continuously.
  • Identify critical process parameters and implement robust process controls to ensure product consistency and compliance with industry standards.

Production Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to production teams to address complex manufacturing issues, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth operations.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for production discrepancies and implement sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor production metrics and KPIs, taking necessary actions to maintain and improve performance.
  • Own the vendor qualification, FAI report analysis, and NPI documentation.

Collaborative Cross-Functional Support:

  • Work closely with design engineering to provide DFM feedback during the product development phase, aiming to simplify manufacturing and assembly.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to identify and qualify suitable vendors and components for production needs.
  • Liaise with Quality Assurance and design teams to address and resolve manufacturing-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and safety requirements related to manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to maintain compliance with industry standards, certifications, and quality management systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in a manufacturing/NPI engineering role, preferably in a technology or electronics-oriented industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of development and manufacturing processes such as PCBA manufacturing, machining, injection molding, assembly, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with a track record of successful NPI projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams.
  • International travel might be required.

Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $175,000
