MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
Nestled on more than 1,400 acres in the Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is a track rich in racing history. It has been the love of NASCAR racing and the thrill of a great time that has made it a favorite of race fans and drivers alike for more than 50 years. Michigan International Speedway has more than 12 campground and is the state of Michigan's largest registered campground. In addition to two great weekends of racing, the speedway is home to events throughout the year including the MIS Backyard Hockey Tournament, Faster Horses Festival and Nite Lites.
NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of a General Maintenance based at the track.
Summary
This position is responsible for the routine preventative maintenance, repairs and track services duties. Operating a variety of equipment. Basic office systems knowledge including but not limited to computer systems and programs, and cellular phone.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all preventive maintenance functions including some electrical, plumbing and HVAC maintenance/repairs related to building maintenance.
- Welds, cuts and fabricates.
- Tests repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- Requisitions parts and equipment with Supervisors approval.
- Keeps records and reports.
- Provides general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Operate equipment as needed.
- Employee will be responsible for track preparation, maintenance, and restoration.
- Track cleaning (sweeping, blowing, applying and picking up absorbent, washing/scrubbing fluids off of the track, etc.).
- Reconfiguring the track between oval, full road course, modified road course, short road course, and drag strip.
- General maintenance around the facility, including painting.
- Ability to operate and maintain many different pieces of equipment including vehicles, lifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Installing and storing signage throughout the property.
- Assist with fleet management and inventory.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Hours may vary but will include all hours of operation, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary to work events and to fulfill job responsibilities. Acceptance of work hours customary in the field of sport/entertainment is necessary.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid driver's license required.
- Physical demands include the following:
- Regularly required to stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally required to sit; and taste or smell. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, vibration and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee would occasionally work in high, precarious places or be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud but can be very loud at times.
